I really really hate defrosting in a Microwave. It makes the meat icky and takes flavor away. Plus to defrost the middle part the outer gets half cooked.It is horrid.So, I just take meat out to defrost the old fashioned way. But, the meat does not always defrost completely - especially in the winter.There had to be something better then a microwave to defrost in less the leaving it during an afternoon to try to defrost.So, I looked on Amazon and sure enough! there were these defrosting 'mats'.I got Cuisinart since it's a brand I do use and know to be good. And the price was really good.When I got it I was confused at first. It was just this metal piece and nothing else.I saw no batteries or plug in were needed.The next day I defrosted a steak on it. Again confused. The metal did not get warm. It was just like it was before I put the steak on it. But, I just left the steak.An Hour later the bottom looked like quite a bit had defrosted. I turned it over. And the whole steak was defrosted about a half hour later.The metal never got warm. It was like it always was but, somehow it defrosted my steak. Nicely.I did put a towel under it because the pictures always had one and I thought maybe I should.The 'mat' cleaned up easy. Just quick and easy.This is an amazing product. I wish it was something more known to people. Imagine the working people if they were aware of this and could defrost stuff after work and not have to resort to a microwave. I do know alot of people are like me and hate microwave defrosting.Anyway, this simple easy little metal mat does magic.

Love this defrosting pad. Bought another cheaper brand and returned it. This one costs a little more but does the job. Quick defrosting.

very surprised how good this works. Was able to get home from work at 215, set 2 chicken breasts on this(in a bag) and they were defrosted by the time i was ready to start cooking around 530. great product.

Was skeptical but this actually really works! It’s lightweight and thin to make storage easy, but still feels well made. This has been crucial for me as a working mom who often needs a quick thaw for dinner. I’ve used this for steak and salmon and it’s a good size to fit multiple cuts. So glad to have this, what a helpful tool and time saver!

This is a fantastic addition to my kitchen. You want your meats, etc, to be 155 degrees or more. If you take items out of the freezer, or the refrigerator, and don’t let it come to room temperature before cooking, you’re asking for trouble with bacteria.There are others, but I chose this one, and I’m happy with it. It’s magic how it defrosts.It’s a simple thing, but works very well.

Honestly this is crap it doesn’t even defrost quickly it sucks it’s a waste of money i normally take out my meat in the morning and by the time lunch rolls around it done. But when i use this think it’s says it’s supposed to take like 20 to 30 minutes but in reality it takes twice as long when i leave it out in the morning when i touch the plate it super cold i feel like since it stays really cold it doesn’t defrost correctly.

The media could not be loaded. I did a test using 0.5 lb of frozen carne al pastor that was past its best-by date: one bag on a regular plate, the other on this defrosting tray. After 34 minutes, both were still frozen, but the one on the tray was slightly more thawed. Nothing dramatic though.The tray didn’t do anything bad, but it also wasn’t life-changing. If you’re expecting your meat to thaw in record time, this probably won’t blow you away. It’s slim and easy to clean, so that’s a plus. But honestly, if you’re just working with small portions, a regular plate and a bit of patience will get you about the same result.
