Great SACD version of the classic 80s album. I would've loved a multi-channel mix, but this traditional stereo in hi-res is great.

This is another surprise, following the Going to California Vcd from Tears for Fears that i got at CDnow only recently. It is a documentary from 1985: footage from a may'85 gig from their Big Chair tour, video's from the BC-singles, interviews with Roland, Curt and Ian. It gives a very interesting picture of who they were at the time, how they were like as a live band in those days, and background information of what some of the songs are about, how they were written, and their early history as a band. It's interesting to sort of 'meet' with them this way. Back in early '85, i considered myself too young to get to concerts (or i did not have the pocket money and transportation means). Apart from charting video's and listening to their records, my only reference were interviews with those guys in teeny-pop magazines, where mainly Curt was in the picture. I always thought that Roland was a shy, withdrawn sort of a guy; but in this video, he actually turns out to be a very funny, intelligent, highly talented musician, articulate and like a guy-next-door - humble and without any high ego-trouble.This is not a full integral concert video (which is why i rated it 4-stars in stead of 5), but it does give a good idea about their live sound: with much finesse and control. It makes you wonder what took them so long after the BC tour, to come up -not before 1989- with Seeds of Love..

Lot of goods songs takes me back to when I was younger. My kids grew up listening to this on road trips they love it!

Not a real sacd.The sound is good but this is a 2 channel sacd and NOT a real DSD5.1 CHANNELS. And WAYYYY too expensive...better deal on E-bay.

Seit seinem Erscheinen im Jahr 1985 ist der Tears for Fears-Klassiker „Songs From The Big Chair“ immer wieder neu veröffentlicht und klanglich aufpoliert worden. Da schon einige Versionen des Albums in meinem Plattenschrank stehen, habe ich lange gezögert, ob ich mir die SHM-SACD aus Japan zulegen soll. Zum Glück habe ich mich doch dafür entschieden, denn die SACD (Non-Hybrid) stellt alle bisherigen CD-Veröffentlichungen in den Schatten. Überspielt wurde das Material als „DSD flat transfer“ von den original Master Tapes aus Großbritannien. Obwohl nur eine Stereo-SACD, ist die räumliche Wiedergabe beeindruckend, die Musik klingt dynamisch und straff. Viele Details werden erst jetzt richtig hörbar.In klanglich ähnlichen Sphären bewegt sich nur noch der „Original Mix“ (24bit/96khz in LPCM), der auf DVD-Audio (als Teil der Super Deluxe Edition von 2014) oder der „High Fidelity Pure Audio“ Blu-Ray erhältlich ist. Diese Version betont Bass- und Mittenbereich etwas stärker und bedient durch das „runde“ Klangbild die aktuellen Hörgewohnheiten. Die SACD hingegen brilliert noch mehr in den Höhen und klingt dadurch „heller“ und kommt damit dem ursprünglichen Charakter der Originalproduktion am nächsten.Fazit: Wer einen SACD-Player besitzt und „Songs From The Big Chair“ in bestmöglicher Stereo-Qualität hören möchte, wird diese Referenzaufnahme zu schätzen wissen.

昔CDで聴き込んだディスクですが、やはりSACDは最初の音出しから違います。個人的にはクラッシックが中心に聴いてますが、昔のロックにはSACD化されてもイマイチのモノが多い中、中域の厚み、空間感、かなりイフェクトたっぷりのサウンドですが、原音が元々良いからでしょう。ただサラウンドではなく普通のSACD専用シングルレイヤーの2chディスクでした。クチコミでマルチスピーカーによるサラウンドと間違えてしまいましたが、クォリティの高さ故ほぼ満足です。
