Barley Malt Syrup, 22 fl. oz. (3 Pack)

The product is OK, but I'm rating it low because the description is deliberately inaccurate. The product you get is 22 WEIGHT ounces, not 22 FLUID ounces. With a substance this dense, 22 ounces by weight is a lot less than 22 fluid ounces, so it's a little bitty container. Also, the shape of the container is wrong for the product, because there's simply no way to get the last few ounces out of that jug unless you pour water into the jug and shake it up a lot.

Just the flavor that I was looking for. Like the malt milkshakes. It has the consistency of honey. Adding sugar helps to enhance the flavor and allows for using less syrup. Tastes great in coffee, and any milk product. Great for pancake syrup or over cereal. I'm going to try the powder product (NOT the barley flour), hoping for less of a mess.Edit:I switched to dark malt extract powder (Munton's) because:1) shipping is high for a small bottle of syrup (hence the 4 stars)2) the syrup must be refrigerated after opening3) the powder is easy to work with if kept sealed in a ziplock immediately after use--buy 3lbs and repackage it into smaller bagsA couple other points to save your money, after having spent mine:1) light extracts lack enough malty flaver2) extra dark extracts have a bitter aftertaste3) I chose Munton's (UK) over the other brand (USA) for the flavor

Arrived with cap off with contents all over the envelope and container. I have attached photos of how it looked when it arrived. There wasn't much missing and I needed it to make bagels immediately so I did not return it but a leak proof seal or different shipping packaging should be used in the future to prevent this problem. The product itself was good and the bagels turned out nice.

Just as a caution, although the product is listed as 22 fluid ounces, it WEIGHS 22 ounces and is just under 16 fluid ounces. So if you have a recipe that needs more than 2 cups of syrup, keep this in mind.

Makes a mean bagel and gives them the right texture. Would recommend, though, the description to be amended to approximate 14 oz, not 16, which is the net weight. Would also recommend to Barry Farm to package this product in a standard jar, since this is a viscous liquid and the buyer ends up using less the full amount because of the inability to get it all out. I'm not sure if I'll buy this from Barry Farm again, but I will look for other packaging options as I like the product.

This worked out well. Wish I read the description a bit more to see the size as I really thought it was much bigger. Totally my fault but it looks like a jug and it pretty small. Also I wished I noticed the need to refrigerate after opening. It is a good product and worked great for pretzels though so 5 stars.

You just can't make NY style bagels without barley malt syrup. It really does make a difference. You won't be disappointed.
