61mm/2.4" Hole Saw Carbide Tipped Hole Saw for Cutting Stainless Steel Plate, Iron, Steel

Bought this specifically for a single job requiring 5 holes in 14gauge steel. Cautious on reviews of pilot bit breaking, so drilled five 1/8” starter holes with a different bit then followed up with this hole saw. Took nice slow speed in first gear of a 20v Dewalt cordless drill motor. Very aggressive bites but cutting very well. Once the first tooth penetrates the 14g I was truly skeptical if the bit would make it through this final phase but it did. A drill press is highly recommended using this bit for cutting of this type, not a hand drill. Final verdict was in once the 5th hole was finished and I removed the plug from the bit, highly recommended and well worth the money in my personal experience. Your standard bimetal hole saws even by big box store name brands would not have lasted but maybe two holes before dulling and becoming useless. This still looks and works just like I received it.

I'm very pleased with this item. It's a great value. I was concerned about the quality, but it cut through 1/4-inch thick steel easily without chatter (I was patient, used steady but not excessive pressure, and used cutting oil).

The build on these is pretty nice but the pilot bit didn't match the quality of the hole saw.I hand drilled through 5mm stainless plate. I started with a small drill bit to lessen the chance of walking out of place but switched to the included bit who's tip kinda disappeared on me and wasn't making it through the plate. So I drilled a bigger pilot hole with another drill bit and things went smoothly when I switched back to this tool. Once the hole saw engaged it cut very nicely and I got a great clean result.They include 2 pilot bits so I'm not too bothered. It looks like I missed a discount but for $15 for the 60mm saw I think it did great.

So let's talk about holes. I haven't had much experience with hole saws in the past, so I was understandingly apprehensive when looking for something to bore a 90 mm hole through the exterior wall of my house to install a Mini Split air conditioner. The preconception with tools is typically the cheaper they are, the lower the quality. I felt like these saws were mid-range as far as price was concerned, but I worried a bit after reading other reviews. Even so, I gave it shot and figured the price was low enough to take the risk.I was blown away. Between this and the other two items, a diamond grit coring saw and a corresponding arbor adapter, I was able to, albeit slowly, cut through 1/4 inch plaster, 1/4 inch wood lath, 1/2 inch wood (with a nail on the cut line), and 1/4 inch exterior stucco with embedded wire reinforcement with no loss of grit or tooth. This saw also handles sheetrock without a problem.*Important note: other reviews had mentioned teeth breaking off too soon. I am happy to report that I didn't lose any teeth from this saw, even in spite of hitting a nail that was embedded in the wood on my saw line. If you take it slow, you should be fine.*I do want to make a few things clear: I do not recommend the grit saw for wood/sheetrock/ other soft materials due to the packing and heating issues it may cause with the grit. It did handle a little wood without much trouble and knocked out the plaster (which is more like concrete) and stucco with wire with relative ease. This carbide tipped saw is a better choice for soft materials. But, most importantly, you HAVE to take it slow. Do not force the saw to go faster than it is will to on its own and make sure you have a stable hold on the drill because it kicks HARD when it catches in the material, but it will get the job done. Sharp and highly functional hole saw. Used it to enlarge a 3/4” hole in a 1” thick tow bar on a sub compact tractor. Used a drill press on low RPM with oil. Very reasonably priced, would by this product again for different size. Could get multiple uses from this. Quick two day delivery ordered Friday night got it Sunday morning.

Chewed through 1" of solid steel and the teeth still look great.

Used this to cut two 1 1/2" holes in 1/4" thick steel plate.The bad: the pilot bit would not make much more than a tiny divot in the metal, even using cutting oil. I had to use higher quality bits to bore a pilot hole.The good: once that was done, the cutters on the saw housing made contact and went surprisingly well through the steel, making a nice, clean cut (see the removed material in the picture).I give equal importance to the pilot bit and hole saw since one needs the other to work properly, so just 3 stars.

I purchased the 4" tool along with Forney 20857 Tap Magic Industrial Pro Cutting Fluid (4 oz) and cut through 3/4" steel with ease. Each cut took less than 5 minutes to complete.
