So happy that I stumbled onto this product, use it for everything that I can! Husband and son love it also!
The media could not be loaded. I actually bought these on a whim because I wanted to send my Dad some cookies and wanted them vacuum sealed. My parents have one of the large expensive sealers and although I have actually thought about purchasing one, I didnt want to spend that kind of money at that time. So I looked for a cheaper one and stumbled crossed the Food saver hand held. Amazon is usually really good about returns so I figured I would give it a try, I was honestly skeptical because of the price. I LOVE THIS THING! I use them for storing dry items as well as freezing. These larger bags are perfect for breads and chips. I used to put bread in the refrigerator which I know actually kills the freshness but it kept much longer than in the cabinet. Now, I can vacuum seal the bread and keep in in the cabinet for weeks, the bag holds its seal very well and the bread goes without molding and stays soft. Chips stay fresh and don't get stale. Then of course we use it for freezing meats and fruits, basically anything that can be frozen, keeps from freezer burning. You might think for dry goods that re-vacuuming every time you take it out and put it back, would be a pain but its not at all, very fast. if you squeeze out most of the air before you close it of course it is much faster. I have attached a simple video clip about how it works in the case that anyone is wondering...So it turns out now that I would take this over the expensive one any day. I would think that these are more re-useable than the larger machines. I reuse the bags multiple times. If it is bread, chips or something that already has its own bag, I usually just leave it in there and put all of it into the foodsaver bag. This way the Foodsaver bag doesn't really come into direct contact with the food and is easier to clean/reuse. If its Chicken, meat or something with bacteria, we mark the bag as such so that when we wash and reuse, we don't place anything different in that bag. I usually just fill them with hot soapy water, close it up and let is soak over night or so. We have had a couple bad bags in the bunch which is probably to be expected but I just use them for something that doesn't need a vacuum seal. Love love this product and am so happy that I stumbled onto it!

Yes, these DO hold their seal in the freezer!
These, work perfectly if you remember to do a few simple things:1. Wrap moist food lightly in plastic wrap, cling wrap or press N seal. If freezing, freeze liquids like sauces in flat containers (like lock n lock), remove when frozen and wrap, or place into a regular zip bag with the zipper cut off, then put into the foodsaver bag. This enables you to reuse the foodsaver bag later.2. Press some of the air out of the bag. Press the zip strip firmly on a hard surface two or three times. Use the back of a butter knife or spoon to ensure the bag is tightly sealed.3. Place the sealer firmly over the vacuum hole. Start the vacuum process and twist/wiggle the sealer a tiny bit to ensure a good seal. For added security, place a small piece of freezer tape over the hole. The manufacturer said these bags were "not recommended" for the freezer because they "might" not hold the seal. I tested this... THEY DO HOLD, if you seal them correctly. I make portions of meats and cheese for sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, and other items and wanted to be able to remove a portion and reseal the bag and return it to the freezer. These re-sealable bags are perfect for that.Remember though, for use in freezer or refrigerator, you must blanch vegetables before sealing. Especially broccoli which gives off gasses when sealed fresh, Read the manual ( I know, I usually don't either) but this manual has important information and no one wants to take a chance and either waste food or worse, get sick. To freeze fruits, wash, dry, peel, slice and freeze on cookie sheets first. Place in zipper bag then into the foodsaver bag. Take out what you need and reseal. For long term storage use the regular foodsaver bags or rolls.Obviously these are terrific for non freezer and non refrigerator storage too. All your pantry items will stay fresh seemingly forever.Like me, you will wonder how you ever lived without this system and these bags.

fair product
fair productsome bags do not stay sealed after 10-15 minutes, however the items Im sealing are not uniform in shape and are hard so the bag has to acquire a unique shape when the air is removed. Im sure food products or regular shaped items would seal fine. Bags are very strong and thick, solid product. Fast shipping.
